The programme took part in a seminar held in Argentina focused on the implementation of Gender Budgeting in that country
The European Union in Argentina and the Democratic Governance Policies department of EUROsociAL+, a programme funded by the EU and managed by FIIAPP, participated in the ‘International Gender Budgeting Seminar’, organized by Argentina’s National Budget Office and the Cabinet of Ministers.
The objective of this seminar was to contribute to the debate and exchange of experiences and good national and international practices in the process of implementing Gender Budgeting (PPG) by focusing specifically on the challenges and opportunities that these processes bring with respect to their implementation and continuity in the different countries.
In this sense, during the seminar lessons learned on a national level were shared, as were international experiences gained from EUROsociAL+ carried out in Uruguay and Spain regarding PPG implementation and monitoring processes.
The seminar, which was held in the ‘Germán Abdala‘ Auditorium used by the Cabinet of Ministers, was attended by more than 70 delegates including representatives of national authorities, civil society and international experts.
For its part, the European Union’s ambassador in Argentina, Aude Maio Coliche, stressed that the SDGs and 2030 Agenda can only be fulfilled by implementing public policies that exclude nobody.
In Argentina, gender equality plays a leading role in the public agenda. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to institutionalize public policies and budgets with the inclusion of this perspective, both to promote more egalitarian societies and to encourage transparency, democratic control and innovation with respect to public management.
