A specialist delegation from SecTrans-NAS, led by the project leader, made a presentation as a prelude to the start of its activity in Niger, where the transportation of dangerous goods is considered a strategic issue; the country is also immersed in modernising the legislative framework related to this type of transport.
This European Union financed project, which is being managed by FIIAPP, aims to strengthen the safety of the road transportation of hazardous chemical and biological materials. Different actions will be carried out in this regard, such as strengthening the regulatory framework, a plan for the circulation of these goods through the capital, Niamey, and various training and awareness courses for the security services, among others.
This start-up activity started by introducing each of the work groups (8 in total) as well as the implementers (FIIAPP, ADELFAS, MIHE).
The SecTrans-Nas project, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, focuses on safety and protection in the transportation of chemical and biological materials in North Africa and the Sahel region. The initiative, which was launched by the European Union in 2010, aims at the prevention, preparation and post-crisis management of chemical, bacteriological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incidents.
