The intention is to contribute to the development of the competitiveness and export capabilities of Cuban companies so as to expand and diversify destination markets
Havana has hosted a workshop on ‘Methodology and tools of an International Commercial Intelligence / Surveillance System’, held within the framework of the EU-Cuba Facility for expertise Exchanges II funded by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP.
The objective of the workshop was to identify needs in this area with a view to collaborating on the development of competitiveness and export capabilities of Cuban companies in order to expand and diversify the markets they address.
Participants in the working sessions included management personnel and specialists from the Chamber of Commerce and PROCUBA, the Commercial Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, as well as Cuban exporting companies, with the objective of identifying and exchanging good international practices in the field of commercial information and intelligence.
Commercial intelligence is the set of actions that an organization performs as a process of exploration and analysis of the indicative variables of the current and trend behaviour of supply, demand, prices of a product or service in local or global markets, allowing competitive threats to be detected, surprises to be eliminated or reduced and competitive advantages to be improved, reducing response time, and new opportunities to be sought and found. It is essential to develop the business strategy, as it guides the direction to follow, warns of the risks involved in each decision and allows actions to be anticipated.
After the workshop, the objective is to study and analyse the information collected to identify and propose the type of system that is required according to the needs of the Cuban institutions.
