A delegation from EUROsociAL+ has visited the country to advance on Costa Rican social agenda
The president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, has received a delegation from the EUROsociAL+ programme, which is financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, and an EU delegation with the aim of reinforcing a cohesive and coherent social policy in the country.
This working meeting was part of the third mission by a specialised assistance. Its aim is to deepen into the mechanism for reconciliation between actors and contribute to strategically guide the preparation of the bill.
Participating in this meeting were the Minister of National Planning and Economic Policy, Pilar Garrido, the Minister and Vice Minister of Human Development and Social Inclusion, Juan Luis Bermúdez and Francisco Delgado, respectively, and the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Luis Aguilar.
In previous missions, the Costa Rican Ministry of Human Development and Social Inclusion was advised on the design and approval of a new social sector chancellery, the coordination of human development and social inclusion policies in the country and the implementation of a dialogue with national institutions.
To achieve this, a series of steps has been established, including the definition of a methodology to move towards ‘formal dialogues’ with all the institutions involved in the bill, undertaking an exhaustive analysis of the first version of the draft text and the consolidation of the advisory role for specific issues related to this process.
EUROsociAL+ is a cooperation programme between Latin America and the European Union which seeks to contribute to improving Social Cohesion in Latin American countries, by supporting their processes for the design, reform and implementation of public policies as well as institutional strengthening.
