A delegation from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Communication visited the Barcelona and Tarrasa offices of Filmoteca de Cataluña.
The twinning project for the institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Culture and Communication of Morocco, focused on strengthening the country’s audiovisual sector, has carried out a study visit to Filmoteca de Cataluña. FIIAPP is participating in this project, which is funded by the European Union, alongside the Ministry of Culture and the Government of Catalonia. In addition, Expertise France and the Italian Authority for Communication Assurance (AGCOM) are also participating in the project management.
For two days, in the different work sessions that were held at the Filmoteca headquarters in Barcelona and its Centre for Conservation and Restoration in Tarrasa, experiences were shared on issues such as the specific work that is being done on amateur and substandard cinema, as well as the cataloguing system being used in accordance with International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) regulations. Likewise, other topics were addressed, such as the requirements for preserving films shot in digital format, as well as the procedure for delivering preservation materials for publicly-subsidized films. Finally, the Filmoteca’s heritage criteria were explained, together with the priorities in terms of preservation and restoration.
Partners include the Ministry of Communication of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Moroccan Cinema Centre (CCM), the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (CIIU), and the Higher Institute of Audiovisual Professions and Cinema (ISMAC).
