Ecuador hosted the act of commemoration of the agreement to reinforce police cooperation against organised crime
On the occasion of the renewal of this agreement, the Minister for the Interior of Ecuador, María Paula Romo, received delegations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, all of which are signatories to this alliance. The agreement between these seven countries has been a success in Latin American police cooperation and in the fight against organised crime at regional level.
This Police Cooperation Agreement which has greatly reinforced the fight against Organised Crime was promoted by the EL PAcCTO project :Support for AMERIPOL, which is financed by the European Union and run by FIIAPP.
The signing of this alliance represents a great step in the exchange of operational information between the aforementioned countries while further progressing the legal consolidation of AMERIPOL. Indeed, it is the only joint organisation at police level in the region that encourages the coordination of work between the two regions in the fight against organised crime.
This commemorative act of ratification was supported by the Argentine Deputy Minister of Security, Eugenio Burzaco, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Security of Brazil, Luiz Pontel and the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Police of Bolivia, Jose Luis Quiroga.
Also present was the ambassador of the European Union to Ecuador, Marianne van Steen, who highlighted the commitment of the European Union to contributing to police cooperation at regional level.
