The project has made some achievements regarding the strengthening of municipal services in the localities in which the project operates.

Over the past few days, the programme Qudra has taken stock of the implementation of new methodologies to improve the provision of municipal public services in the Jordanian towns of Mafraq, Ramtha and Sarhan . These include the introduction of new financial management techniques , such as programme budget as well as innovations in municipal administrative management with strategic management tools and to digitalise municipal registers. In addition, it has collaborated with municipal technical staff to generate recommendations and in applying good practices in energy saving and efficiency.
Public resources in these three municipalities have been diminished by the increase in demographic pressure caused by the influx of refugees and displaced persons from neighbouring countries involved in conflicts.
This session on the work undertaken and the results achieved has been carried out within the framework of the presentation to the local authorities of the call for proposals to work with civil society. For this reason, it attended by the Jordanian municipal authorities involved in the project and representatives from Spanish Cooperation. Vicente Ortega, the coordinator of the Technical Office of Cooperation in Jordan, highly valued the collaboration with the Jordanian institutions, both at the municipal level and with the Jordanian Ministry of Municipal Affairs . The meeting has also had a great impact in the country, as reported on Jordanian national television news.
The Qudra programme is financed by the European Union through its Madad Fund (European trust fund established in response to the Syrian crisis) and its management involves Spanish Cooperation, represented by FIIAPP and the AECID, along with other institutions such as the German GIZ, Expertise Franceand the Hungarian Interchurch Aid HIA. Its main objective is to strengthen the resilience of the host communities and of refugees and internally displaced persons mainly fleeing conflicts in Iraq and Syria. In Jordan, Spanish Cooperation is working to strengthen the municipalities in the north of the country and to improve their public services, in collaboration with civil society.
