The customs management project has reinforced knowledge of security, rescue, searching and different techniques applied in the country’s maritime sector

This project, which has been running for 22 months, has now closed in Ankara, where the results have been presented, as well as the knowledge shared on cooperation between agencies. Likewise, the previous maritime development strategy has been updated by Turkish Customs.
In the activities carried out in the Customs management project, financed by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP, more than 600 Turkish Customs officials have been involved, together with more than 60 experts from the Spanish Customs and Special Taxes Department of the State Agency of Tax Administration .
This project is the product of a twinning agreement reached between Turkish Customs of the Ministry of Trade and the Institute of Fiscal Studies of the Ministry of Finance, along with the participation of the Directorate of Customs and Indirect Taxation of France.
The closing ceremony was chaired by the Turkish Deputy Minister of Commerce, Gonca Yilmaz Batur, accompanied by the Spanish Ambassador to the country, Juan González-Barba Pera and representatives of the other institutions involved in the project.
The director of Customs Surveillance, Ángel Delgado, highlighted the contribution of the Customs Department and the AEAT to the project, and has suggested the possibility of reaching new agreements in this field.
Likewise, Alexander Frike, as representative of the Delegation of the European Union, showed his satisfaction with the creation of this twinning agreement and has encouraged new instruments or similar means of cooperation to be implemented in Turkey.
