The objective of EU-ACT and the Moldovan General Office of the Prosecutor was to improve the use of special investigative techniques by the country's undercover agents

EU-ACT, together with the Moldovan Office of the Prosecutor General, has supported the Moldovan police in developing the capabilities of the country’s special agents. The existing legislation was first evaluated, followed by a workshop to discuss recommendations for possible legal reforms. In addition, a seminar was held for prosecutors and police officers in charge of controlling and conducting covert operations; and, finally, there was practical training for nine undercover agents.
The training put undercover agents’ ability to improvise a negotiation or solve incidents with drug traffickers to the test.
The EU-ACT project, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, aims to fight against drugs and organised crime.
This project in Moldova was supported by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police and the Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), part of the Romanian Prosecutor’s Office.
The closing ceremony of the training course was attended by the Spanish ambassador in Romania, Manuel Larrotcha Parada, who expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of this course, which will improve investigations into organised crime, in strict accordance with the law and with the utmost respect for human rights.
