The Local Development project has supported the productive inclusion of 1,183 people in situations of poverty and vulnerability in Angola

The Local Development Project (LDP), funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, together with the Social Support Fund (FAS) has, since 2015, sought to contribute to combating poverty through the development of the municipalities in Angola by decentralising the provision of services and with initiatives that increase business opportunities and income generation.
In order to increase these business and income opportunities, the project has worked on two levels: on the one hand, identifying the economic potential of the territory and co-financing investment projects; and on the other, promoting productive inclusion to improve living conditions of vulnerable families.
FIIAPP has accompanied the FAS in its policy for productive inclusion, which provided a varied kit of materials for Angolans to start or boost their professional activities. To be eligible, candidates had to meet a series of requirements related to their level of exclusion (giving priority to people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities and women) and their ability to perform a productive activity.
Likewise, the beneficiaries have participated in training sessions and have shown their commitment to achieving the objectives of the project for which the kit was provided.
In this pilot phase, 1,183 people have participated, of whom 80% are women, from 10 municipalities in 9 of the country’s provinces. In addition, a monitoring system has been established, using IT tools to monitor the beneficiaries of the kits, which has contributed to improving the FAS’s Information and Monitoring System (SIMFAS).
