“Living together without discrimination” is introduced to Morocco

The Spanish Embassy in Rabat hosted an inter-agency workshop aimed at presenting the project “Living together without discrimination” (Vivre ensemble sans discrimination) to the different public institutions of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The project, which promotes coexistence without discrimination in the country, is financed by the European Union Trust Fund and managed by the AECID and FIIAPP. It also has the technical support of the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia (OBERAXE) and the delegated Moroccan Ministry for Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migratory Affairs, as well as from the National Human Rights Council. The project is based on protecting fundamental rights and pays special attention to the gender perspective. It thus seeks to strengthen public instruments and policies aimed at preventing racism and xenophobia towards migrants.

To get Moroccan institutions involved in the project the different working commissions that will be created around the project were introduced at the workshop.  These will monitor and guide the activities, ensuring the involvement of the Moroccan administration and its interdisciplinary application in public policies.

The meeting was attended by representatives from various Moroccan ministries and institutions and the European Union Delegation in the country, as well as from the FIIAPP and AECID Technical Cooperation Offices.
