A delegation visits Spain with the aim of strengthening the capacities of its institutions to achieve a coordinated police model

The EU-ACT project against drugs and organised crime, which is funded by the European Commission through its Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace and managed by FIIAPP, is supporting Kyrgyzstan in its efforts to achieve a coordinated police model in its different units, always in accordance with the national context of the Central Asian country.
To achieve this, EU-ACT has organised a visit to Madrid by a Kyrgyz delegation, made up of representatives from its Ministry of the Interior and its State Committee for National Security, institutions that, in Kyrgyzstan, face the challenge of coordinating all the units involved in the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime.
With the aim of developing the capacities of the Ministry of the Interior and the State National Security Committee in this area, the delegation was shown the practical implementation of an Intelligence-Led Policing system, as well as its great effectiveness in combating drugs and organised crime.
In addition to the FIIAPP-organised visit, the delegation also visited Spanish National Police agencies, such as the Intelligence Centre for Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO) and the Data Processing Centre. In these agencies, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about Spanish procedures and exchange experiences with their counterparts.
About the Project
The aim of the EU-ACT project is improving the effectiveness and operational cooperation of agencies responsible for investigating drug trafficking and the organised crime associated with it. The project covers more than 30 countries through which the so-called “heroin routes” pass, whose main point of departure is in Afghanistan, which is responsible for more than 70% of the global production of this drug.
