With the aim of strengthening and modernising the Tunisian Ministry of Justice, this project, which is managed by FIIAPP with funding from the European Union, has had the help of Spanish and Italian experts, who worked in conjunction with their Tunisian counterparts for three years.
During this time, the Tunisian Ministry of Justice sought to set up a functioning, operational and simpler structural framework. To do this, the project bolstered the Ministry’s skills through activities such as training its civil servants and creating a manual of good practices for the administrative and financial management of the courts.
In addition, throughout the project, which formed part of the Ministry’s strategic plan for strengthening the independence of the judiciary, procedures were simplified and objective standards set for creating courts.
During the closing ceremony of the project, and in a press release, the Minister of Justice, Ghazi Jeribi, noted: “This twinning project has helped to strengthen the institutional, administrative and organisational abilities of the Ministry.” The communiqué also emphasised the importance of the progress made and the need to preserve and strengthen it through greater cooperation with the European partners and between the departmental offices.
