The delegation visits the Spanish capital to learn about Spanish experiences of non-discrimination and equal treatment
Visit of the delegation to the Ministry of Justice
Within the project Living without Discriminations, this visit has been organised for representatives of the Ministry for Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs (MDCMREAM), of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) of Morocco and of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Spain, to come to Madrid with the aim of learning about current experiences and good practices in the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance.
Among other institutions, the delegation visited the State Secretariat for Migration, the General Council of the Judiciary, the Ministry of Justice, the Ombudsman and the Directorate General for Equal Treatment and Diversity. The delegation also had the opportunity to learn about the work carried out by the NGO Movimiento contra la Intolerancia [movement against intolerance] and by the Council of Victims of Hate Crimes and Discrimination, civil society organisations active in this field.
The visit was an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and learn first-hand about the different mechanisms that have been put in place in Spain to promote non-discrimination and equal treatment.
The activity was part of the delegated cooperation project “Living without discrimination: an approach based on human rights and the gender dimension”, funded by the European Union through the EU Emergency Fund for Africa. Led by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the project also counts on the work of the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) and the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia (OBERAXE), belonging to the Secretariat of State for Migration.
The project seeks to reinforce the instruments and public policies aimed at preventing and combating racism and xenophobia with respect to the migrant population in Morocco, based on the protection of fundamental rights, in order to promote coexistence, paying special attention to the gender perspective.
