The Colombian Attorney General's Office is linked to the FIIAPP through several projects managed by the Foundation
The Colombian Attorney General, Fernando Carrillo, visited the FIIAPP headquarters today, where he held a working meeting with the Foundation’s Director, Anna Terrón.
The FIIAPP maintains close links with the Colombian Attorney General’s Office, which it supports through several projects funded by the EU and managed by the Foundation together with other European cooperation agencies.
In particular, it works with the EUROsociAL+ programme, with which it is carrying out a restorative justice programme in Houses of Justice and Citizen Coexistence Centres. EUROsociAL+ also supports the Attorney General’s Office in designing a strategy to promote the participation of young people in the fight against corruption, with the aim of accentuating preventive, disciplinary and judicial intervention work at the local level, from the point of view of young citizens; as well as in the elaboration of a strategy to follow-up on and control mayors’ and governor’s offices and the Directorate of the “Colombia Joven” National Youth System in compliance with the regulations in force regarding youth.
In addition, the FIIAPP has actively participated in other activities of the Attorney General’s Office, including a seminar on corruption organised by the ACTUE Colombia project and a meeting on international justice and the fight against impunity supported through the EL PAcCTO programme.
The main responsibility of the Colombian Attorney General’s Office is to defend the public interest: it monitors the performance of public servants and is therefore also a bastion in the fight against corruption, because due to its sanctioning power it can suspend, dismiss and disqualify any Colombian public official.
