For two years, FIIAPP managed a project in Ukraine to adapt the latter country's laws on aviation safety to European regulations
In this twinning project , funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, Spanish experts from the National Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) exchanged experiences and good practices in the subject matter with their Ukrainian counterparts.
The project, which recently ended, had two fundamental purposes: to apply the European regulation of aerodrome, airport and aircraft airworthiness safety, as well as to support the integration of the Ukraine in the EU transport system. To this end, many Ukrainian experts received training of all kinds in accordance with European procedures.
Among the achievements made in these two years, the publication of laws in the Ukraine in this regard is worth mentioning and the implementation of many of the processes and recommendations of the European Union, including manuals and work guides.
According to Eugenia Llorens, responsible for international activities in the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency, the project worked perfectly because it was carried out among peers: “It is carried out between two authorities that have the same function, each one does it according to its norms, nature and experience, but in the end experts talk to experts.”
