Understanding the social norms and practices that lead to gender inequality in society and at work is the aim of the basic training organised by the Angolan Social Aid Fund (SAF).
The activity is part of the country’s local development cooperation project, funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP and FAS, which seeks to strengthen municipal administrations and reduce territorial and social inequalities.
It is therefore intended to give the FAS officials training in gender-related issues, both at the Directorate General and at its provincial offices in Bengo, Cuanza Sul and Luanda. They will therefore be given tools for individual and collective reflection on socialization processes and their influence on unequal relationships.
There was also a discussion of the essential principles and values that need to guide their work in the area of equity and gender equality and will provide an opportunity to influence the organizational culture so as to face up to these situations.
Lasting for three days, this workshop is one of the activities that are being implemented to give FAS the tools to promote inclusion and the application of the gender viewpoint in their work. The plan includes three modules, which are being taught since the beginning of 2017: basic training, female leadership and training the trainers. As a result of this process, FAS will have a gender and masculinity facilitation manual.
Advice is also being given to the Directorate General of FAS on drawing up a Gender Action Plan and a Code of Conduct with a gender perspective.
