Spanish tax agency experts exchange experiences with their Montenegrin counterparts in the first project on this subject in the country
The modernisation of the Montenegro Tax Administration is the objective of the new support project financed by the European Commission and managed by FIIAPP. It also aims to improve the services offered to the taxpayer and rationalise tax burdens.
For a year and a half, this Twinning project will benefit from the experience of Spanish experts from the Spanish State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT). This is the first project on this topic in which the Montenegrin Administration is participating.
The project will also contribute to the preparation of the Montenegrin administration to adopt the common VAT system when they will become members of the EU. It counts with the participation of the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance, whose Minister has pointed out that the strengthening and modernisation of the work processes are a necessary condition for improveming the general tax system.
On the Spanish side, the director of FIIAPP has emphasised the Foundation’s extensive experience in promoting international cooperation projects in relation to the modernisation of public administrations for the benefit of citizens.
The project has also included the participation of the Director of Montenegro’s Tax Administration, the special delegate from the special Delegation in Madrid (AEAT), the Head of the European Union Delegation (EUD) in Montenegro and the Spanish Ambassador. The round of interventions was closed by the project managers in Spain and in Montenegro, who are now working in close collaboration.
