The COPOLAD Programme groups together 10 countries in Latin American and the Caribbean to exchange and develop good practices in the fight against drugs.

The Cooperation Programme between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union on Drugs Policies (COPOLAD) brought together 10 countries from the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) region in the 3rd Intra-Regional Forum on Alternative Development held in Lima (Peru).
The aim of this programme initiative, funded by the European Commission and managed by FIIAPP is to promote an exchange of experiences, identify lessons learned and work together on new approaches in the area of Alternative and Integrated Development.
At this third meeting, there was a review of the good practices shared at the first forum held in Bogotá (Colombia) in 2016 and the second in Santa Cruz de la Sierra y Trópico, Cochabamba (Bolivia) in 2017. In other words, the meeting looked back at the progress made on integrating Alternative Development into the public policies of the different countries.
In the framework of COPOLAD, the forum was led by theGerman Technical Cooperation Agency (GIZ)and the Republic of Peru through its National Commission for Development and a Life without Drugs (DEVIDA), whose Executive Chairman took part in the opening ceremony, together with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Peru.
Also taking part were the Interamerican Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), UNDP Peru and ten government institutions from Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as representatives of producers’ organisations and associations and the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC).
