The anti-corruption project in Colombia was present at the 24th Pharmaceutical Forum of the National Association of Colombian Industries (ANDI)
The Anti-Corruption and Transparency for Colombia (ACTUE Colombia) project, funded by the European Commission and managed by the FIIAPP participated in the closing of the 24th Pharmaceutical Forum of the National Association of Colombian Industries (ANDI). This forum is the most important in the country for Colombian health sector issues and brings together the highest public authorities, leaders of sector trade unions, senior managers from industry as well as representatives of patients’ associations and academia.
The central theme of the Forum was the analysis of the most relevant aspects that has the consequence of the entry into force of the Statutory Law on Health in Colombia; regulatory framework of the fundamental right to health, which guarantees its provision and establishes protection mechanisms.
In this Forum, the progress of two studies on integrity and transparency in the health system in Colombia were presented, supported by the FIIAPP through the European Union’s ACTUE Colombia project. These two studies are presented under the headings “Characterisation of risks and practices of corruption and transparency, and identification of levels of tolerance to corruption in the Colombian health system” by the University of Antioquia, under the direction of Professor Jairo Hubert Restrepo and “Transparency policies and strategies developed by key stakeholders in the health sector in Colombia” carried out by the University of Los Andes, under the direction of Professor Tatiana Andía.
Since 2014, the FIIAPP has supported a series of initiatives on transparency and access to information in the Colombian health sector through the ACTUE Colombia project, which includes: the Ten commandments of Priority Transparency Actions in the Sector, the drug prices thermometer, the ” therapeutic formulary “1-Click Drugs“, the development of a comprehensive transparency and integrity management mechanism of the INVIMA, among other initiatives.
