180 health professions from Latin America will participate in the online courses.
With the aim of covering training needs on the subject of the prevention of drug consumption in Latin America, COPOLAD II held three online courses on “Training for Drug Demand Reduction (DDR)”.
The first of these three courses was entitled “Consumption of Alcohol and Other Drugs: Evidence-based prevention”; the second will address “Comprehensive and Integrated Social and Health Care in Drug Addiction from Primary Care”; and the third “The Public Health Perspective in Drug Policy”.
These training sessions started in June and will have a duration of six months, until December 2017. They are aimed at professionals in the public health sector of CELAC member countries specialised in the management of services, decision-making and drug policy.
The course attendees were chosen through a selection process carried out by the national drug agencies of the 18 Latin American countries participating in the COPOLAD II programme. There will be 180 participants in all, 60 in each course.
This is the first edition of these international courses, and it is being organised within the framework of COPOLAD II.
