Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health is hosting the regional activity as part of the programme of the MediPIET project.
MediPIET, the training programme on epidemiology in the Mediterranean region, holds one of its training activities in Beirut, Lebanon. Foreseen within the framework of the programme, the training covered different MediPIET methods of analysis in epidemiology known as Time Series Methods (TSM).
The MediPIET contact person in Lebanon, Nada Ghosn, led the opening ceremony for the activity, which was attended by experts with different profiles, MediPIET members, external collaborators, coordinators, facilitators and observers.
Nada Gosh used her turn at the podium to speak on behalf of the Director General of the Ministry of Public Health, Walid Ammar, and to express the honour it is for the institution to host an activity like this one and the opportunity it represents to meet experts on methods of analysis in epidemiology. She also highlighted the importance of knowing “how to listen to time series, people on the street, listen to the trees or the sea…”
During the event, the MediPIET scientific coordinator, Adela Paez presented the programme of planned activities, and the MediPIET head scientific coordinator introduced the facilitators and panellists of the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training.
Experts on public health and epidemiology from 20 Mediterranean countries will participate in the activity.
