The EUROCLIMA+ programme will help 18 Latin American countries in promoting the environmental sustainability of the continent.

The European Commission will provide €37 million to launch EUROCLIMA+, the new regional programme to support environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation and adaptation in Latin America.
FIIAPP is one of five agencies selected by the European Union to manage the programme, together with AECID, GIZ, Expertise France and l’Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
EUROCLIMA+ will help 18 Latin American countries, taking into account the 2015 United Nations convention on fighting climate change, promoting environmental sustainability particularly to benefit the most vulnerable population.
The Euroclima+ programme arose because of the success of the EUROCLIMA programme, which started in 2010 and will end in mid-2017. The actions are defined according to the needs of the region, which were identified by the National Focal Points, who will also be responsible for ensuring synergies and complementarity with other initiatives, representing the position of their governments and promoting the application of the results.
The objective of the programme is to facilitate dialogue on regional policy and also to provide technical and financial support for development and implementation of climate change adaptation measures and mitigation policies in the Latin American region.
The greatest challenge of this programme is to integrate climate change mitigation and the adaptation of policies that can provide economic growth, improved social equality, and climate and environmental protection. Countries can make rapid progress when policies are integrated into their development strategy. Additionally, the programme will support the adaptation of strategies and objectives that Latin America committed to in the Paris Convention of 2015.
