Five Cuban officials, representatives of various ministries, visited Sweden as part of the Cuba-EU Expertise Exchange Programme.
Visit to Suede by the cuban experts delegation
Five Cuban officials, selected by their respective ministries, visited Sweden to learn about the process of refining biogas and its use as a fuel. This visit will serve as the kick-off for a pilot project for biogas-powered buses in the city of Martí, in the Matanzas province in Cuba.
Over four days, the group of experts visited businesses, associations and universities working on the production or promotion of biogas in the cities of Stockholm, Linköping and Uppsala. There, they were able to learn in depth about the extraction, production and use of gas from biological sources as an alternative fuel for public transportation on the island.
The delegation of Cuban experts included Alfredo Jam Masso, Adviser to the Minister of Economy and Planning and Head of the Cuba-EU Expertise Exchange Project; Deny Oliva Merencio, Vice-Chancellor of the Technical University of Havana; Javier Roque Herrera, Director of Vehicle Transport, Ministry of Transport of Cuba; Maritza Marrero Álvarez, Specialist on Renewable Energies, Ministry of Energy and Mines; and Marlen Navarro Boulandier, Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Matanzas.
This activity is within the framework of the Cuba-EU Expertise Exchange Programme, an international cooperation project funded by the European Commission and managed by FIIAPP, the aim of which is to accompany the Cuban government in the process of modernising the state.
