Pedro Flores Urbano, Director of FIIAPP attends COP22 to publicise the work of FIIAPP on climate change.
Environmental sustainability and climate change benefit from greater financial support (€300 million) from regional cooperation between the EU and Latin America which is funded through the Development Co-operation Instrument.
To publicise the activities of the Euroclima programme and present the future Euroclima+ programme, the EU has organised a side event in the European Union pavilion at COP22, which is being held in Marrakesh from 7th to 18th November.
Euroclima+ is a regional programme from the European Union on climate change in Latin America aimed at the inclusion of mitigation and adaptation strategies to address climate change for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations. This programme’s work consists of promoting public policies on climate change and providing technical and financial support for the implementation of these policies in Latin America.
The presentation was attended by Pedro Flores Urbano, FIIAPP’s managing director, as a speaker. Also in attendance was Mercedes Sanchez Pedrosa, head of the Central American, Mexican and Caribbean Cooperation Department of AECID, the other Spanish institution in charge of this programme.
Pedro Flores spoke of the need for the programme in the following terms: ‘with the participation of the Euroclima+ programme, we are strengthening our commitment to Latin America, to European cooperation and to addressing global challenges’.
