Spain's Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure presented a project on safety in multimodal transport.
Kiev, Ukraine, held the launch for the international cooperation project on Safety of Multimodal Dangerous Goods Transport, whether by road, rail, sea or river, in the country. The project, funded by the European Commission with a budget of €1,200,000 and managed by FIIAPP, is also supported by Spain’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport, France’s Ministry of the Environment, Energy and the Sea and Poland’s Road Transport Inspectorate, and it has a duration of 21 months.
One of the main objectives of this project is the integration of Ukrainian multimodal transport to the European transport system and to address the fact that Ukrainian legislation does not have a regulation on dangerous goods transport that meets international and European standards and criteria. This results in a lack of vehicle certification and safety rules.
Once the project is presented, the next steps will be to create a transport certification system and an institution responsible for the use and monitoring of infrastructure.
The launch was attended by representatives of the three collaborating institutions, in addition to the Spanish Ambassador to Ukraine and the Director-General of Road Transport of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Joaquín del Moral Salcedo.
