The European Union is supporting Ukraine with a new Twinning project, managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), aimed at supporting the country’s state aviation administration to improve air safety in the country and achieve Ukraine’s integration into the EU Union transport system
The 21-month project, with €1.6 million in funding from the European Commission, is part of the work Ukraine is doing to adapt its legislation to European standards in all areas.
As regards the aviation sector, an agreement is expected to be signed between Ukraine and the European Union on the Common Aviation Area, which would make it possible to unite the air transport market and improve the quality of service to Ukrainian passengers and carriers.
During the project, experts from the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA), will provide training to their counterparts at the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine (SAAU) on European aviation procedures.
At the project´s launch event, the European Union ambassador to Ukraine, Jan Tombiński, stated that “the transport sector has remained a priority of the EU-Ukraine cooperation, and this project is an important part of this cooperation”.
Oleksandr Bilchuk, Chairman of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, claimed: “This project is of great use for us. Sharing the best practices of our Spanish colleagues from Civil Aviation Authority will approximate Ukrainian civil aviation to the EU.”
