The German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) and the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) presented in Croatia the project entitled “Support to the Prison System of the Republic of Croatia”, funded by the European Commission in the amount of €700,000, to help the country with this improvement.
The project, with a duration of 15 months, will be managed by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), with the participation of FIIAPP in the management of the project. Spain’s General Secretariat of Prison Institutions will help with implementation of the project by supplying experts.
The project objective is to apply the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in the Republic of Croatia, and to improve the country’s prison system by improving the continuing education system of its prisons and for the staff in charge of minors.
The project kick-off event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Justice of Croatia, the German Ambassador to Croatia, and the Deputy Head of the Embassy of Spain in Croatia, in addition to the work team that will be responsible for coordination of the project.
