FIIAPP participates in the meeting on evaluation and monitoring held in Uruguay, organised by the country's Office of Planning and Budget (OPP).
FIIAPP’s Evaluation Programme participates in the meeting on “Capacity building for the monitoring and evaluation of public policies within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)” organised by the Management and Evaluation Area (AGEV) of the Office of Planning and Budget (OPP) of Uruguay.
The purpose of the activity, held from 12th to 14th April, was to create a space for exchange and reflection between the different operators of Uruguayan public administrations with a view to starting a National Register of Evaluations in the country. A register that will work to define common evaluation and monitoring policies for Uruguayan public policies.
The activity is part of the process of institutionalising and strengthening the culture of evaluation and monitoring in the public sector being promoted in the country.
Miguel Ángel Lombardo, Coordinator of the FIIAPP’s Evaluation Programme, participated in the meeting as a speaker and the moderator of one of the practical sessions. In his speech, he addressed the objectives of the National Register of Evaluations and some of the practical and operative aspects of how it will function in the future.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the UNPD in Uruguay, the Secretariat for Human Rights of the Office of the Presidency of Uruguay, the National Institute of Educational Evaluation (INEED), the Agricultural Programming and Policy Office (OPYPA) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fishing, and the National Statistics Institute (INE), all of Uruguay.
The OPP of Uruguay, as the competent body and with a mandate for evaluation of public policies, has been one of the members of the Inter-Agency Public Policy Evaluation Group (EvaluAL) since September 2015. In an agreement signed in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia under the auspices of the FIIAPP’s Evaluation Programme and EUROsociAL.
The support to EvaluAL is one of the lines of work of FIIAPP’s Evaluation Programme, which is coordinated by Miguel Ángel Lombardo under different cooperation modalities, which include direct technical assistance.
