The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) organised a study visit by Cuban civil servants to our country within the framework of the Cuba-EU Expert Exchange Programme, which is financed by the European Commission. This is an international cooperation project that aims to support Cuba in its process of updating its socio-economic context.
The visit will focus on “Regulatory mechanisms in the agrifood sector for the promotion and development of value chains and their structural mechanisms”. The Cuban delegation will visit the AICA agency of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), Mercamadrid, several wine-producing cooperatives and the TRAGSA company.
The members of the Cuban delegation are civil servants working in the country’s Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP); Ángel Bu Wong, Head of the Research Department of the National Institute for Economic Research (INIE); Mónica Mireles Torres, an INIE researcher; and Loraine de los Ángeles Fernández Gómez, Head of the Agribusiness Department of the MEP.
The project managed by the FIIAPP began in January 2014 and has a duration of 36 months and a European budget of 3,500,000 euros. The FIIAPP selects experts and institutions from Europe and third countries to carry out an exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices with the Cuban professionals.
