The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) is leading a cooperation project in Angola to reduce poverty and stimulate economic growth in the country.
Local Development Project
The ceremony to launch the Local Development Project (LDP) being led by the FIIAPP in Angola in collaboration with the Social Support Fund (FAS), an Angolan government institution that promotes sustainable development, is being held today in Luanda.
The European Union is financing this project with 29.85 million euros and delegating its implementation to the FIIAPP. Its objectives are toreduce, in accordance with the Angola 2025 strategy, territorial asymmetries and social disparities in access to basic public services, promote a diversified local economy andstrengthen the capacities of local governmentsfor providing quality services to the neediest families.
The support of the European Union and the FIIAPP in the PDL makes it possible to expand the operational scope of the FAS to cover 14 of the country’s 18 provinces, thereby achieving more geographically equitable coverage in the provision of basic services in localities where the Fund was previously not active.
The project is aimed at citizens living in rural, semi-urban and urban areas of the poorest cities in the country;producer associations and cooperatives; small and medium-sized enterprises and potential entrepreneurs; municipal administrators who are members of the Survey and Social Consultation Councils (CACS); and the providers of basic services.
