The Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) will enjoy the support of Spain through a project financed by the EU and led by the FIIAPP to build the capacities of this institution
For the next two years and under the leadership of this project, Morocco and Spain will work together with the goal of strengthening the organization and activity of the DIDH, one of the country’s institutions for the protection and promotion of human rights (HR). In this way, it will promote respect for HRs and take another step towards strengthening democracy in the North African country.
To do this, it will draw on the support of France and Austria, countries that were present on 18th December at the inauguration of the project in Morocco. With a European budget of 900,000 euros, the project will also focus on areas like combating racism, building capacities in other ministerial departments on international law and HRs and on the promotion of public policies from an HR perspective.
Spain will provide its support to Morocco through officials and experts from the Spanish Ministry of Justice, the Office of Human Rights(ODH) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies of the Ministry of the Presidency. The FIIAPP coordinator of the project on the ground is Diego Blázquez, who previously coordinated another project on Social Affairs in Tunisia for socio-occupational integration of persons with disabilities.
