The FIIAPP collaborates in the AECID programme, ACERCA, aimed at training human resources in projects for culture and development. In its 10 years of existence, it has organized over 500 activities in the 23 priority countries for Spanish Cooperation.

The main objective of ACERCA is to support and promote training processes and build the capacities of professionals in the cultural sector as a contribution to development and collective welfare. The FIIAPP collaborates with the AECID in cultural cooperation activities, placing greater emphasis on culture and development projects.
In recent weeks it has organized a series of seminars, including the “Second Edition of the Workshop for Creating a Communication Media Network”, held in Maputo, Mozambique. For one week, 15 cultural journalists from the country’s main news media met with national experts and one Spanish expert with a long track record in the sector. This seminar was conceived with the goal of expanding the knowledge of journalists and creating a network to make culture an essential tool for the country’s development.
Another noteworthy ACERCA activity was the “Specialized technical support seminar on architectural documentation and the creation of urban rehabilitation manuals, specifically for the city of Hebron”, Palestine. During the sessions, there was a review of the work done to support the rehabilitation programme for the historic downtown of Hebron undertaken by Spanish Cooperation in the past 15 years, and specialized sessions on graphic, architectural and urban documentation were held. With this workshop, capacities were strengthened in the area of urban heritage management in Palestine, and an urban rehabilitation manual specifically focusing on the city of Hebron was created. This historic city is the site of the Cave of the Patriarchs, the mausoleum where, according to a secular tradition, Abraham, Jacob and Isaac are buried, making it a sacred place for Muslims, Christians and Jews.
Also worthy of mention is the first session of the DURAR: Workshop to promote diversity in jewellery-making at the creative and technical level project, which was held in Algiers, Algeria. The purpose of the event was to support professionals in the sector in this country by promoting online creative education on the use of new technologies. The same event has also been organized in Tunisia, and in early 2015 another edition will be held in Morocco.
