COPOLAD, the Cooperation Programme between Latin America and the European Union on Drug Policies, held the second meeting of the working group on Drug Supply Indicators in Lima.
The activity, organized within the framework of the COPOLADprogramme, financed by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP, took place in Lima, Peru on 25th and 26th November and was carried out by MINJUSTICIA-Colombia and DEVIDA-Peru, in close collaboration with CICAD-OAS.
The meeting’s objectives were to explore, discuss and agree on a proposal for a protocol for collecting and analyzing supply indicators, such as cocaine production potential, chemical composition and drug purity, and drug quantity and chemical substances. Also during the meeting, agreement was reached on the actions to implement them in the National Drug Observatories (OND) of the interested countries.
This also was an opportunity for the participants (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and CICAD/OAS) to discuss the possibility of carrying out pilot studies in their countries to characterize the substances.
