The FIIAPP collaborated in the organization of three workshops on employment counselling in Uruguay.
The FIIAPP collaborated with the Uruguayan Ministry of Labour and Social Security in holding various workshops during September and October, within the framework of its Pilot Projects programme,to maximize the link between the migration phenomenon and employment policies.
Migrants, returning Uruguayan migrants and civil servants participated in the workshops aimed at promoting the reintegration of migrants in the country’s labour market.
The first, “Employment Counselling for returning Uruguayan migrants“, was aimed at improving job placement possibilities for this group in Uruguay. The second, “Employment Counselling for Immigrants in Uruguay“, focused on providing group employment counselling to immigrants living in the country. The third, “Training civil servants in contact with the returning and migrant population“, sought to raise awareness and train civil servants by providing information on the migration phenomenon and the labour market in Uruguay.
Over the past two months, the participants also exchanged information on rights, labour rights and local job opportunities with both the staff of the public employment centres and migrant beneficiaries, thereby addressing the employment needs of the latter.
This project is part of the initiative to support Policy Dialogue on Migration between the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which is being financed by the EU and implemented by the FIIAPP in close coordination with the IOM.
