Between 16th and 18th July, the Latin American Network of Public Policies for Regional Development is holding its Annual Mid-Year Meeting, organized with the support of EUROsociAL, programme financed by the European Commission, which is attending as a participant.

Over three days, the 17 countries in the Latin American Network of Public Policies for Regional Development will address issues related to regional development and social cohesion in roundtables and working groups. The main objective of the Network is to consolidate a space for dialogue on policies between countries that will make it possible to share experiences and improve the formulation and implementation of public policies that promote territorial cohesion and reduce inequality in Latin America.
In the framework of this meeting, organized by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU), there will be a presentation of a Diagnosis of Regional Development in Mexico, carried out by the OECD using the peer review methodology, at the request of the Network and with the support of EUROsociAL.
This meeting is being held at a crucial time for Mexico, whose federal government wants to give a strong boost to the national policy on regional development. The SEDATU will take advantage of the meeting to present its Regional Development Programmes for the North, Centre and South-Southwest, the primary instruments of public policy published within the National Democratic Planning System, and it will sign a collaboration agreement with the Regional Development Commission of the National Governors Conference (CONAGO) to implement these programmes.
Last Monday, the objectives of the meeting were presented in a press conference with the participation of the head of SEDATU, Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín; the Deputy Secretary of Urban Development and Housing of the SEDATU, Alejandro Nieto Enríquez; the European Union Deputy Ambassador to Mexico, Stephan Vavrik; EUROsociAL Director, Inmaculada Zamora; and the Coordinator of the Mexico/EU Social Cohesion Laboratory, Francesco Vincenti.
