The Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute(GTHI) has reached an agreement with Gambia International Airlines (GIA) which makes it the new catering provider for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
GTHI is a direct beneficiary of the ‘Support to the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute Programme’, which is being managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) in collaboration with the Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
Thanks to this project, over 100,000 meals will be provided during the HAJJ, the annual pilgrimage by Muslim faithful to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
The GTHI will send a delegation of teachers and students with the job of feeding 1,300 Gambian faithful for one month.
The Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute was created in 2013 with the support of the AECID and the World Bank.
