The EU Commissioner for Development Cooperation, Andris Piebalgs, personally congratulated the consortium, of which FIIAPP was member, recognising the impressive results and the good sustainability prospects for the URB-AL III Programme.
The URB-AL III programme, with close to 1.8 million beneficiaries, has successfully completed 20 cooperationprojectsimplemented in 74 Latin American territories. The publicationpresented at the close of the project details the programme’s achievements over the four years it was in effect.
Thanks to this programme, 23,446 people were trained in subjects related to business creation, waste management, promotion of tourism and safety. In addition, 1,613 jobs were created in sectors linked to small businesses, recycling and tourism, and 389 projects involving the renovation and construction of urban spaces or local infrastructures were developed.
In this programme, FIIAPP mobilised more than 2,875 experts and institutional managers in Latin America and Europe, developing 25 training actions.
The project was led by the Barcelona Provincial Counciland implemented by a consortium of public administrations made up of the Region of Tuscany and the Inter-regional Observatory for Development Cooperation, OICS (Italy), the City of San José (Costa Rica), the Greater Bogotá Mayoralty (Colombia) and the Province of Santa Fé (Argentina).
