The Director of FIIAPP, Pedro Flores, along with the Deputy General Director for Migration Issues of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Diego Nuño, opened the “Transfer of Knowledge, Skills and Experiences” workshop at the Foundation headquarters.
From 10 to 13 December, as leader of the Migration and Development components of the “EUROMED Migration III” project,FIIAPP is holding a workshop on the transfer of knowledge, skills and experiences.
Other participants in the workshopinclude representatives of the Ministries of Employment, Interior and National Security, Planning and Statistics and Foreign Affairs of the Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Libya and Jordan).
In the opening ceremony, Pedro Flores highlighted the importance of these types of workshops for the project. “I’m sure that this workshop will be a key instrument for improving knowledge in this fundamental field”, remarked the FIIAPP director.
The objective of the workshop is to help governments take steps to determine the means and measures needed to maximise non-monetary transfers. The purpose is to provide a structured programme that facilitates the exchange of means and measures that identify the skills and experiences of migrants, the most effective strategies for attracting them and how to orient them so as to maximise their contribution and impact on development in the destination countries and, especially, in their countries of origin.
The overall objective of the EUROMED Migration III project is to improve cooperation between the countries of the Mediterranean and the European Union on migratory issues, as well as South-South cooperation.
