Members of the FIIAPP presented an interactive workshop on monitoring the Dakar Strategy objectives and a summary of the work accomplished at this meeting, as well as the project’s conclusions.
Discussions on “Strengthening policy decision-making based on proven migratory data” began in Dakar, Senegal. This meeting is part of the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development, the Rabat Process. Approximately 60 people from Europe and Africa are participating.
Once the meeting was opened by Ambassadors Thiam (Senegal) and Verkammen (Belgium), the members of the FIIAPP-ICMPD consortium outlined the objectives of the new Rabat Process Support Project and the initiatives implemented in order to reach these goals. Later, the participants enjoyed the presentations of renowned experts and specialists, such as Professor Michel Poulain (pictured in photo).
The debates highlighted the importance of using the proven data to implement migratory policies and presented best national practices, especially for Belgium and Senegal, which co-hosted the meeting.
The second day, the participants were offered two work groups on the same topic, focusing on two specific cases: border management and the data migration crisis.
