In Tirana, Albania, we have concluded the project entitled “Supporting the Albanian Data Protection Agency in the Training of Data Protection Officers in the Public Sector”.
The FIIAPP has successfully completed the data protection project, having achieved the objectives set at the start. Thanks to the seminars organised during the project, 38 officers have been trained, from various Albanian ministries and other public institutions attached to those ministries. In addition, a practical guide has been drawn up for those who have been trained.
The majority of these Albanian civil servants were trained by Spanish experts from the Data protection agency, with the collaboration and assistance of Polish, British, Hungarian and Romanian experts.
The project focussed mainly on the design of a training curriculum and the implementation of a pilot phase of the specialised training course for data protection officers in the public sector.
The project, funded by the EU with a budget of 180,000 euros, lasting 6 months and executed by the FIIAPP, was the continuation of another project to strengthen the Albanian Data Protection Agency, also managed by the FIIAPP, from November 2010 to December 2012.
