The beneficiary countries are Morocco, Mauritania, Thailand, Albania, Cambodia, Iraq, Moldova, Senegal, Tunisia and the Indonesian zone.
The FIIAPP will manage three international cooperation projects to prevent terrorist attacks with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons.
They are three different projects with very specific objectives:
– To improve the preparation and response capability of the States for these attacks by providing expert training on border control
– To prepare and manage a system to detect contaminating materials at borders, ports and airports
– To search for the real threats in each country by improving the practical training of the border guards or customs agents (through simulation exercises) and propose the acquisition of appropriate equipment
– To reinforce coordination among national organizations responsible for providing a quick response to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incidents. Standard operational procedures will be defined for use in the response to incidents of this type (closing off affected areas, treating and transferring victims, medications, sample collection) and a database will be created with all of the first aid agencies in each country
Spain, through the FIIAPP and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is working alongside France and the United Kingdom on these international cooperation projects financed by the European Union with a total of 1,800,000 euros.
