Spain is participating in a European cooperation project in Mali, Mauritania and Niger "against terrorism in the Sahel".
The FIIAPP is responsible for managing the project in which France, Belgium, Italy and Austria are also participating.
The work of the FIIAPP consists of training security forces. To do so, the Sahelian Security School (SSS) was inaugurated last September in Niger. The Presidency of the SSS will rotate among the countries of Niger, Mauritania and Mali .
The main objective is to harmonise the anti-terrorism practises of these countries and create cooperation networks also linked to other international operators. This project envisages the participation of the State Security Forces and Corps, represented by members of the National Police Corps and the Civil Guard in this country.
The project has a budget of more than 6 million euros, fully financed by the EU, and it will last until 2014.
